Peyronie’s Disease

Peyronie’s disease was first described in the 13th century.

The hallmark of the disease is a scar development, or plaque, in the outer portion of the penis under the skin leading to curvature (bending). The disease is thought to occur from abnormal healing of the penis.

Peyronie’s disease can present with mild to severe curvature and pain. In severe cases the curvature of the penis may lead to inability or difficulty with penetration during intercourse and erectile dysfunction.
